Self-Consumption Mode This mode minimises your interactions with the grid. The battery stores renewable energy from your solar panels – and discharges it to power your home when it’s needed. If you need more energy and don’t have enough solar, it imports energy from the grid when prices are low and renewable energy is abundant. It's like having a personal energy reserve, giving you control over how and when you use electricity.

Earnings Mode This is the star of the show. In Earnings Mode, Homevolt doesn't just save you money – it earns you money. How? It intelligently decides when to store energy and when to sell it back to the grid at peak times – keeping your lights on and your conscience clean.

Here's how it works

• Storing it: Homevolt optimises the capture of renewable energy, automatically switching between storing your own solar energy and grabbing cheap, mostly renewable energy from the grid when it's plentiful.

• Using it: When energy prices peak (and fossil fuels might be creeping into the mix), your battery discharges energy to power your home, reducing your reliance on expensive, non-renewable energy.

• Selling it: If you've got more energy stored than you’ll use, Homevolt sells it back to the grid when prices are highest. 

How much you can make depends on the capacity of your Homevolt battery, the spot price of energy when you sell it, and how much energy you consume.

You can still participate in Grid Rewards with Self-Consumption Mode, but the earnings and impact aren't quite as significant.
