The battery with a brain that gets more from every kilowatt

You’ve got solar on your roof, maybe an EV in the driveway. You’re generating clean energy—but are you using it to its full potential?

Most home batteries follow a simple routine: they charge from solar when the sun’s out and discharge into the home when it’s not—even if that’s not the best time financially or environmentally.

But for the same amount of lithium on your wall, Homevolt gives you more—more control, more optimization, more value. It’s not just a battery that stores energy. It’s a battery with a brain.

Homevolt crunches complex data to adjust its behavior. It analyzes energy prices, solar forecasts, your consumption patterns, EV needs and market signals. Unlike other batteries, it doesn’t ask you to program anything manually. It’s always one step ahead, working silently to help lower your bills and make your energy cleaner.

And it doesn’t just adapt—it does so according to your energy values, with two smart modes that let you set the battery’s priority: Earnings Mode or Self-Consumption Mode.

Whether you’re focused on reducing bills or running on your own power, Homevolt is designed to do the work for you—maximizing the value of every kilowatt you produce or store, without lifting a finger.

Earnings Mode: Make every kilowatt work harder

Earnings Mode puts your energy system to work—strategically buying, storing, and using electricity to maximize your financial return. Behind the scenes, Homevolt scans markets, anticipates demand, and responds to pricing signals—automatically.

This kind of intelligent energy trading was once reserved for experts with spreadsheets and constant monitoring. Now it happens seamlessly in the background for regular households.

  • Maximizes your solar when prices spike. When demand and prices surge, Homevolt either discharges it to your home so you never buy energy at peak prices or sells your excess solar back to the grid to earn money.

  • Charges from the grid when prices are low or negative. Homevolt scans the day-ahead electricity prices and charges from the grid during the lowest-cost hours, when renewables are often abundant.

  • Coordinates with your EV. Tibber intelligently syncs charging with your Homevolt—factoring in energy prices, your solar production, and system load to ensure your car is ready on time at the lowest cost.

  • Earns through Grid Rewards. Homevolt participates in balancing markets like FCR and FRR. You earn compensation for using your energy to support the grid.

While savings vary based on your home, solar setup, and energy use, the impact can be significant.

“I didn’t pay a single electricity bill last year,” says Homevolt user Mathias Johansson. “I ended up with a positive balance on my Tibber account thanks to solar, battery optimisation, and Grid Rewards. Most people buy a battery because they want it to be profitable—and there’s real money to be made.”

This setup tends to appeal to solar owners looking for long-term payback from their system.

Self-Consumption Mode: Maximise what you produce

If Earnings Mode is about financial return, Self-Consumption Mode is about self-reliance.

Your battery primarily charges from your own solar panels and minimizes grid interaction—perfect for those who prioritize grid independence and self-consumption, even if it’s not the most profitable choice.

  • Optimizes solar for high-impact moments. Instead of discharging as soon as solar fades, Homevolt holds back—saving that stored solar for peak price periods when it delivers the most value.

  • Prioritizes your solar, fills in the gaps. Homevolt intelligently uses as much of your rooftop solar as possible. But in periods of low production (like winter), it charges from the grid at the cheapest, often most renewable-rich times.

  • Keeps your energy local. Homevolt never discharges stored energy to the grid. It keeps your solar for your home, even during low-production seasons. If there is excess, our customers with an energy deal can switch on `Include Solar` in the app and any excess will go towards charging your EV.

  • Minimizes market exposure. Grid Rewards participation is limited and the battery never discharges to the grid—reducing earnings but keeping your energy use simple and local.

Even in Self-Consumption Mode, Homevolt stays intelligent. It evaluates your usage alongside price forecasts to time solar release when it’s most effective—delivering value with no manual input and limited market trading.

This approach suits people who highly value consuming their own electricity.

A smarter way to power your life

Whichever mode you choose, Homevolt turns your solar setup into something smarter, greener, and more cost-effective—delivering more value from every kilowatt.

But the promise of a battery like this goes beyond a single home.

For the first time, everyday people can play an active role in the energy system—without the complexity. Homevolt stores power when it’s abundant, uses it when it’s needed most, and helps reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

When thousands of households do the same, the effect multiplies—flattening demand, supporting the grid, and speeding up the shift to renewables.

It’s a quiet revolution. One that starts with a smarter battery, and ends with a better energy future.
