Anders earns money – by charging his car
“Simple and ingenious,” says Anders Gram, who has been testing Grid Rewards for three months. The solution is now being rolled out to Tibber customers throughout Norway, Sweden, and the Netherlands.
Grid Rewards: a classic win-win
“I'm very keen on new functionality and think it’s fun to get nerdy in the Tibber app. So, when I was asked to take part in the beta testing of Grid Rewards, I didn’t hesitate a bit,” says Anders Gram (40) from Sandnes.
The new solution from Tibber makes smart charging even smarter. You will now be paid to top up your car battery when there is a surplus of energy in the grid. A great effort is to avoid wasting available renewable energy from the sun, wind, and rain.
“Grid Rewards gives individuals like me the opportunity to relieve stress on the electricity grid, while at the same time putting some money in my bank account,” Anders explains.
Win-win: Anders strikes a blow for the environment – and gets rewarded for it at the same time.
Earn money while he sleeps
After testing the new solution for three months, how do you feel about it?
“The concept is as simple and ingenious as it sounds, and I haven’t needed to make any changes to my habits. I use Smart Charging on the Easee charger and wake up to a fully charged battery as usual. The only difference is that the car may have earned me a bit of money while I slept.”
The Tibber app shows earnings of around 300 NOK between February and April.
“It’s nice to have an extra grand a year while helping the environment. A little extra wind, rain, and sun is suddenly profitable,” he says with a smile.
Stylish app with cool features
A friend recommended Tibber to Anders back in 2020 and he has been a happy customer ever since.
“I liked that it was something completely new, a challenger in the market. And I quickly noticed the stylish, user-friendly app. I probably appreciate things like that even more because of my occupation,” says Anders who works as a UX designer.
Simple: “I probably value ease of use more than the average person,” says Anders.
“Zero stress”
Anders can see his meter data updated up to every two seconds via the real-time meter Tibber Pulse straight in the app.
“It’s great to have full control over your power consumption, and at the same time you can save a lot of money. Especially in the last couple of years,” says Anders.
He moved from a small, modern apartment to a 124-year-old detached house around the same time that electricity prices skyrocketed.
“It was no hassle to transfer the Tibber subscription to my new home, and I’m very happy about that. Using the app, I immediately realised how much money the previous owners spent on underfloor heating. It didn’t take long before a heat pump was purchased and integrated with the Tibber app,” Anders concludes.
